So, did you hear that Sarah Palin feels that she owes America a “global apology”? Business Insider reports,
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity which aired after President Obama announced his four-part strategy to fight against ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria, Palin said as she watched the speech “the thought going through my mind is ‘I owe America a global apology.’ Because John McCain, through all of this, John McCain should be our president.”
But what exactly is she apologizing for? Is she admitting in a very subtle way that her presence in the GOP ticket in 2008 was responsible for McCain’s loss? I’d be surprised, Palin is incapable of subtlety as much as she’s incapable of many other things, as I explain in Sarah Palin: Palin’ In Comparison. Chances are that she herself didn’t realize what she was saying. This, on the contrary, would not surprise me at all.
As I heard her calling President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry “these boys,” as I [painfully] listened to her blather, I was reminded one more time why I will never forgive Senator John McCain for dumping her on us.
However, I do have to admit that I found myself agreeing with her. She does owe America an apology. It is not a global one, not even a general one (which is what I think she meant when she said “global”). No, I think Palin owes America a very specific apology for having accepted the nomination for the Vice-Presidency of the #1 nation in the world, when she was clearly and wholly unfit for it, for letting her greed and ambition blind her to her limitations.
I never thought that I would ever agree with Palin. But nothing gives me more pleasure than to say that, on this, she’s absolutely right.
